Dear Cousin,
In order to shed light on the area of Public Relations, I found it defined best by McGraw-Hill
Public Relations defined by McGraw-Hill, is "A leadership and management function that helps achieve organizational objectives, define philosophy, and facilitate organizational change. Public relations practitioners communicate with all relevant internal and external publics to develop positive relationships and to create consistency between organizational goals and societal expectations. Public relations practitioners develop, execute, and evaluate organizational programs that promote the exchange of influence and understanding among and organization's constituent parts and publics."
It's leadership and management skills, used through effective communication that cause and evoke changes for the betterment of people, organizations, and companies. Through communications such as newsletters, press releases, speeches, and interviews.
Take care Cousin!
